What makes something go viral? Is there a formula for making something go viral? What are your favorite viral campaigns?
Subcultures have always been a fascinating group to explore. Recently a friend told me that prominent subcultures have mostly come from the coasts-with access to media outlets (LA/NYC) these subcultures have been able to get their word out in a more efficient manner-or is it that the media giants find out about them and expose them quicker-not sure, but check out this super cool little doc about bikes and how this subculture is trying to make a difference
In our Profile section we will highlight people that we feel are making a difference. We decided to start with one of our own-BYU Alum Jason Bagley-Creative Director at Weiden and Kennedy and one of the brains behind the incredibly successful "Old Spice" campaign.
Jeff came and spent two days with the advertising program giving advice, talking shop, and reminiscing on his past as a former BYU student.
A few things we learned from Mr. Bagley
1. Ambitious goals + life threatening consequences = successful career. In other words, set creative goals with your copywriter or artdirector-if you don't do them, then the other person gets to embarrass the heck out of you. This type of exercise puts some "fire" underneath you to get the job done.
2. Don't worry about coming up with the perfect idea-just come up with 1,000 ideas and you'll have the perfect/great one
